Pillar of demon slayer are some of the most prominent characters in the series, and while ranking them by strength is simple, ranking them by likability can be a lot more complicated. Demon Slayer’s Hashira runs the entire gamut from absolute idiots to the sweetest ones in the series.
In the end, the way each Hashira interacts with Tanjiro, Nezuko, and the other killers plays a big part in how endearing they are. Although the world of Demon Slayer is harsh, that doesn’t mean everyone who fights darkness has to be completely stupid about it.
9 Sanemi Shinazugawa, Pillar of the Wind
The Abbot of the Wind, Sanemi, appears a lot during the Pillar meeting, where most of the Pillars are introduced in the anime. During the meeting, Sanemi committed an act more unforgivable than some of the demons in the series by stabbing Nezuko for absolutely no reason. While most Hashiras agree that Nezuko must be dealt with like a demon, Sanemi’s cruel and unusual treatment of Tanjiro’s sister caused fans to quickly hate him. Besides his actions, Sanemi’s angry and rude personality made it difficult for him to impress viewers. Even when his tragic origins are revealed, Demon Slayer’s Wind Hashira is far less sympathetic than his younger brother, Genya.
8 Obanai Iguro, Hashira’s Serpent
Anime fans rarely see Serpent Hashira, Obanai Iguro. His only two appearances were at Hashira’s first meeting, and a brief appearance after his battle with Daki and Gyutaro in the Entertainment District section. The main actions Obanai took so far were trying to kill Nezuko, knocking Tanjiro down and pinning him to the floor, while also insulting the Powerful Sound of the Hashira Tengen Usui Demon Slayer even though he was late to the battle. . Obanai behaved rudely and condescendingly, even to his fellow Hashira, making sure he wasn’t a very likable character. In fact, the only person Obanai seemed to respect was the leader of the Demon Slayer Corps, Kagaya Ubuyashiki.
7 Gyoumei Himejima, Pillar of Stone
The Blind Stone Hashira, Gyomei Himejima, failed to make a big impression in his first appearance, despite having one of the most powerful forms of Demon Hunter’s breath. Gyoumei is a gentle giant who has shed tears at the tragedy Tanjiro faces, but that doesn’t mean he’s willing to show Nezuko’s mercy. That attitude earned him more praise than characters like Sanemi and Obanai, but it still wasn’t enough from Gyoumei to make him truly popular. Even in the Swordsmith Village installment, Gyomei is still one of the least known Hashira in the anime, so he’ll just have to wait for his time to shine before moving up the list.
6. Muichiro Tokito, Pillar of Mist
Muichiro Tokito, the Mist Hashira, is the youngest Hashira at just 14 years old, making him slightly younger than Tanjiro. A prodigy who achieved his status in less than two months of training, Mist Hashira is one of the most impressive members of the group as a fighter, even without taking into account age. Muichiro took no sides in the debate about Nezuko during the Hashira meeting, completely ignoring it. He reappears in Swordsmith Village, where his tragic past is revealed. As it turns out, Muichiro was once a nice boy and only became so cold when he lost his memory. Whether or not Muichiro will come back to be nice is unclear, but at least it should be enough to rank him among the Hashira swarms when it comes to likability.
5 Mitsuri Kanroji, Pillars of Love
As Hashira Love, Mitsuri is best known for her unusual sword in Demon Slayer, and her extreme affection for everyone in the Legion. Although Mitsuri is not as belligerent as the other Hashira in the way they treat Nezuko, she also doesn’t really help Tanjiro’s sister during this first encounter. However, when Mitsuri reappears in Swordsmith Village, she takes Nezuko and Tanjiro very seriously, treating Nezuko as if she were her own sister. She is also quick to defend the village when it is attacked, prioritizing the safety of non-combatants in the area.
4 Tengen Usui, Hashira Sound
Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui is the second Hashira to receive a lead role in the series alongside Tanjiro’s gang, following Rengoku’s appearance in the movie Mugen Train. Sound Hashira brought in the main trio to help save his wives and investigate one of the Twelve Kizuki, who turned out to be Daki and Gyutaro. Despite being wounded early in the fight against Gyutaro, Tengen fought with one hand to help stop the High Moon while Tanjiro beheaded him. Despite his strange flashiness during the Hashira meeting, Tengen turns out to be a trusted ally of Nezuko and Tanjiro, making him one of the most friendly and likeable Hashira.
3 Shinobu Kocho, Insect Pillar
Shinobu Kocho, the insect Hashira, has the uncanny distinction of being the only Hashira that lacks the power needed to decapitate a demon. Instead, this Hashira has mastered the use of poison to take down her enemies, leading to her unique Insect Breath style in Demon Slayer. Shinbou was the first Hashira to pursue Nezuko and Tanjiro, but quickly changed his mind after their leader Kagaya backed the two brothers. Shinobu’s rescue of Zenitsu and her hospitality to the main trio, when she let them stay in her butterfly mansion, helped win over fans. Her relationship with her adopted sister Kanao also gives the character more depth and shows that she has an empathy that many other Hashira lack.
2 Kyojuro Rengoku, Flame of Hashira
Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku is the star of one of the best anime movies of 2020, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train. The energetic Flame Hashira is best known for her love of delicious food and a burning desire to save everyone around her, even at the cost of her life. In fact, one of the few things that detracts from Kyojuro’s heroic behavior is his original decision to kill Nezuko at the Hashira meeting. However, unlike many other Hashira, Kyojuro apologized to Tanjiro for this after Nezuko was accepted by Kagaya. Kyojuro’s warm personality combined with his protective nature makes it hard not to love Flame Hashira, and despite his eventual fate, he remains one of the most beloved Hashiras. of the current nine Hashira.
1 Giyu Tomioka, Pillar of Water
The Water Pillar is the first demon hunter Tanjiro meets, shortly after his family is killed. After initially showing aggression towards Nezuko, Giyu almost immediately realized that there was something different about the Kamado siblings, and he sent them to be trained by his master, the former Hashira Urokodaki of the Water type. However, Giyu wasn’t just the catalyst for Tanjiro to become a demon slayer; he is also the only Hashira to accept Nezuko without Kagaya’s influence, even intervening to protect her from others. His personality, though characterized as stoic, is also surprisingly protective and passionate. Despite Shinobu’s claim that Giyu is not loved by the other Hashira, he is possibly the most popular Hashira with fans.
The Demon Slayer’s Hashiras are everything from angry and violent to cold and emotionless to warm and inviting, with personalities as varied as their looks. The loveliest Hashira are usually the ones who show kindness to Tanjiro and Nezuko, as their treatment of those who are easily belittled reflects their true selves. While the original reasons they gave their verdict against the pair may have been different, it was the ones who soon stood out as allies that became the favorites. These rankings are subject to change as the anime continues to adapt demon slayerbut for now, this order most accurately reflects how adorable Hashira is.
