The globally popular anime series Demon Slayer has entered a new collaboration with renowned Japanese watchmaker Garrack, launching new mechanical watches inspired by four fan-favorite characters from the series.
Garrack announced via PR Times that its Demon Slayer automatic watches are now available for pre-order starting August 23, ahead of a general sale in Japan on August 30. The four watches are inspired by popular Demon Slayer characters Tanjiro Kamado, Nezuko Kamado, Zenitsu Agatsuma, and Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku. Each watch features character-inspired motifs, such as Tanjiro's blue and black haori, a sword-shaped minute hand, and a crow at 12 o'clock. Despite being the main character, Tanjiro's watch is the cheapest at 49,500 yen (~$340). The Nezuko, Zenitsu, and Rengoku watches are priced at 55,000 yen (~$378), 60,500 yen (~$415), and 63,800 yen (~$438), respectively. Garrack ships worldwide via its WorldShopping service. You can see images of the watches and details below.
Demon Slayer's New Automatic Watch Is Perfect for Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu, and Rengoku Fans
Nezuko's kimono is the main inspiration for her watch, while the ribbons that tie her hair inspire the hands of the watch. A green bamboo symbol is placed at 12 o'clock, a reference to the bamboo in the series that keeps her from biting herself or others. Zenitsu's watch is inspired by his orange and yellow haori. The dial that spins every second resembles the tsuba (or hand guard) of a sword, while the hands represent his sword and scabbard. His crow, Chuntaro, is highlighted at 12 o'clock. Finally, Rengoku's watch is inspired by his flames, with the seconds dial reflecting his tsuba and the highlight at 12 o'clock also inspired by his crow. The diameter of the watch faces on all watches is 41.5mm, except for Tanjiro's watch, which is listed as 42mm.
Garrack's new watch follows its previous Demon Slayer smartwatches in both Tanjiro and Nezuko versions. The company has previously collaborated with the popular anime series Jujutsu Kaisen on smartwatches, and even dabbled in kitchenware with high-end cooking knives for Attack on Titan. Anime watches remain in high demand and are therefore regularly produced, with One Piece releasing the latest of many collaborations with SEIKO watches for the anime's 25th anniversary this year.
All seasons of Demon Slayer are now streaming on Crunchyroll, which has announced that the anime series will culminate in a trilogy of films adapted from the “Infinity Castle” arc. Demon Slayer is officially described as follows: “It is the Taisho period in Japan. Tanjiro, a kind-hearted boy who makes a living selling charcoal, sees his family massacred by a demon. Worse still, his sister Nezuko, the sole survivor, has been transformed into a demon. Despite his anguish over this grim reality, Tanjiro resolves to become a “demon slayer” so that he can turn his sister back into a human and kill the demon who massacred his family.”
