The anime series will feature Satoshi Hino (also known as the voice of Demon Slayer’s Kyojuro Rengoku and Haikyuu!!’s Daichi Sawamura) as the voice actor for the legendary demon lord, Veltol Velvet Velsvalt. Daigo Murasaki is the author of the light novel Demon Lord 2099 with Kureta as the illustrator. It was published in January 2021 by Fujimi Shobo under the Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint. It was later adapted into a manga series by Kiiro Akashiro, which began serialization in Kadokawa Shoten’s Shonen Ace Plus in November 2021.
Yen Press licensed the light novel in English and describes its first volume as:
THE FUTURE WAITS FOR NO ONE
The cyberpunk metropolis of Shinjuku—a sprawling city-state decorated with neon signs, towering skyscrapers, and the latest cutting-edge technology. It was here, in the year 2099 of the Age of Fusion, where the legendary Demon Lord Veltol was about to take shape in the coming second century. But this landscape is not like the one he conquered many years ago, for the combination of magic and technology has raised civilization to unprecedented heights of brilliance. Veltol may have been reduced to a historical footnote, but make no mistake…this brave new world will be his!
