Warning: Spoilers for Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village Arc, episode 4The newest enemies in demon slayer has proven particularly difficult to deal with—even surviving being decapitated by Hashira of the Mist himself. However, Tanjiro has just taken a big step forward when he learns important clues about how these new demons work.
The demons that Tanjiro, Nezuko, and Genya are currently up against started as a single demon, the Upper Fourth known as Hantengu, who broke one of Demon Slayer’s greatest rules. After beheading, which usually kills one demon, the creature is regenerated from both parts instead, creating two new demons. They split into four people, each with their own distinct strength and a certain mark on their tongue. While they originally had Tokito, Mist Hashira, with them, he was blown away by one of the demon’s fans, sending him far into the mountains where it would take a while to return. . Tanjiro is dragged away by one of them, a tengu-like flying demon, and must face it on his own.
Demon Slayer’s Hantengu is divided weaker
As Tanjiro was fighting the flying demon, known as Urogi, he began to piece together what happened. Each mark on the demon’s tongue corresponds to an emotion – joy (Urogi), sadness, joy and anger. When Tanjiro slashed through Urogi, he temporarily reincarnated into two, and Tanjiro noticed that the combined attack power of the two was much less than when they were one, and both still said “rejoice”. Tanjiro can also deduce that the tongue is the weak point of these demons—although cutting it won’t kill them, it slows down their regeneration considerably.
Not engaging their tongue is a good part of Tanjiro; they are big clues that these are not ordinary demons, but rather some manifestation of various emotions that belong to Hantengu. However, there’s still a lot that Tanjiro needs to figure out; if it is even possible to defeat each of these individuals, or if perhaps there is some major agency lurking elsewhere that he needs to take down. And of course, even if they manage to defeat these manifestations of Hantengu, there is still the Upper Five Gyokko to deal with, as well as the fish hench demons he summons into the village. This fight is far from over, even if Tanjiro has brought them a little closer to victory.
If demon slayer On the side of victory, Tanjiro will need to keep his tactical brain thinking and observing these enemies, always on the lookout for loopholes and weaknesses.
