When entering the second phase, Delicious in Dungeon episode 13 continues down a dark path. With black magic, crazed wizards, the loss of boneless dragon meat, and a frightened Chilchuck, it seems that any current hope of a successful rescue of Falin is lost.
After You're Gone, Is It You That Comes Back?
Do you ever wake up at night and feel something calling you? Yes, Falin certainly does. After last episode's welcome back party, she was somehow still able to stand up and be nimble enough to jump out the window. He walks towards the dark elf who came to their world in the last episode and is stunned to realize that he seems to know her. And, maybe she knows him too.
Laios's sword, the best defense the group has, falls, and this wakes Laios up and he quickly realizes that his imouto is gone. When he rushes out to find her, he is greeted by a crying Falin and a vanishing dragon. He was greeted by the goblin who saw him in living pictures as he was doing his best Mario impression.
But don't be afraid! Marcille is here! And she's doing bakuretsuing (Konosuba fans understand that) everywhere. It's never a good idea to try to resolve things amicably, but maybe that's not what she's trying to do. Either way, her rescue attempt eventually turns into an all-out struggle against a dark magician. Realizing that she cannot win with conventional methods, she decides to use a little black magic herself and attack the dark elves. But she fails to keep up or initiate some proper dialogue and is thrown into a hole where the dark elf tells her that “it puts lotion on its skin.”
But seriously, no one in the anime believes it. in a Colt? The dark elf took a few seconds to recite his spell. As seen in the previous episode, even Marcille, who knows about dark magic, is stunned by the chantless spell. The odds are that their current opponent needs to cast a spell. And you know what's faster than a chanted spell? Boom, boom, you're dead!
As the Delicious in Dungeon group struggles to escape their new home, things don't go well for Falin either, as she appears to have been transformed into the dragon the group had just slain. If anyone remembers, Marcille and Laios both mentioned that during the resurrection process, the bones were not mixed. But what about meat and bodily fluids? Falin still had a lot of dragon juice on him. Could that have influenced her resurrection—was it the dragon itself. Or is it black voodoo magic? Good. We think it's…
Borrowed time
As Delicious in Dungeon episode 13 continues, the group, with help from the ghosts that populate the dungeon, finally survive another near-death experience. But as they escaped the deadly trap, they were soon surrounded by ghosts and soon after, they were captured by Orcs. And the real-life equivalent to that is leaving a Baja Fresh for “good tacos” and then walking into Taco Bell. You went from a bad situation to a life-threatening situation.
They are about to be taken to a farther place. The Senshi intervened, letting them know he was a worldwide gentleman and he was there on behalf of the chief. So they definitely shouldn't have turned him into a shishkabob. At first, they didn't believe him. After a few careful sniffs, they realized it was someone they knew. And that, kids, is why you shouldn't bathe. Your musk may save you someday.
But when the Orcs come to the aid of our wayward adventurers, what may be the most disgusting thing we've ever seen on this show is sent down Laios and Marcille's gullet. Poor Marcille, she should accept that putting questionable, potentially sick or vomiting-inducing things in her mouth is life.
As Marcille and Laios recover, Senshi and Chilchuck discover that they have ruffled the feathers of the worst birds in the tree, and now they are out. The Lunatic Magician, the 'master of the dungeon', had that task for them. Realizing how bad things are, Chilchuck implies that it would be better to lie to Marcille and Laios to avoid having to rescue Falin and fight the Mad Magician.
While some may consider this cowardice, biologically speaking you have a single goal. To reproduce. Nothing else matters. Live, spread your genes and die. That's all nature intended. Anything other than that is just bullshit we make up as a species. Therefore, keeping yourself safe is not first and foremost selfish; it's biology. But feelings are often more important than facts, and the Orc leader was disgusted by what she heard and initially refused to help Chilchuck get his things. Only when the Senshi intervened did she instruct him on his equipment. But he remained with Laios and Marcille.
Delicious in the Dungeon Episode 13: The End
As Chilchuck and the orc leader talk, it is realized that Chilchuck's sudden weight gain is no surprise to the heart and more that he is not willing to see his ally die. He is well aware that, so far, they have succeeded through luck. Their tactics are very careless and leave too much to chance and luck. It's only a matter of time before they get hurt or worse. But he was forced to admit that he gave up more because he didn't want to see the worst outcome happen than to protect himself.
When Chilchuck returned to the group, he saw the Senshi trying to hold Laios in place as he tried to pursue Falin. At this point, Chilchuck bares his soul and lets Laios know that they cannot continue as they are. They needed rest, reinforcements, and a strategy. Of their own accord, the Senshi agree and the group decides to return to the surface. And with that, Delicious in Dungeon episode 13 ends and the group is no longer as close to Falin as they were 12 episodes ago.
