Spoilers for My Hero Academia chapter #419
Summary
All For One's plan to control Shigaraki was successful, leaving Deku defenseless. Deku is not alone in his fight against All For One, with the help of his classmates and Pro Heroes. Deku's fate is in danger as he faces his darkest and most vulnerable moment with no way to fight back.
Deku has never been more helpless than at the end My Hero Academy chapter 419. Deku's encounter with Tenko and the loss of his arm in the Villain's head directly affected his real body. Now, the Heroes and civilians of Japan are forced to watch as their strongest warrior is no longer able to defend himself. It seemed that everything was lost without the sudden appearance of new allies.
This chapter is definitely one of My Hero Academia's darkest moments, a trend that's been on the rise since Kohei Horikoshi, the manga's creator, started writing My Hero Academia's Final War Arc.
The situation will likely continue to get worse for the Heroes before it improves, and Deku's condition at the end of the chapter is proof of this.
All For One grabbed Deku's arm in My Hero Academia
and with them carried the young hero's many hopes
This chapter begins with All For One separating Deku and Tenko while mocking Tenko for believing he has control over his life. The Symbol of Evil confirms a dark My Hero Academia theory implied at the end of chapter 418: All For One orchestrated the fall of the Shimura Clan to make Tenko his perfect disciple and the future ship Shigaraki, completely shocked by his former teacher's words, allowed himself to be taken over. Deku tries his best to help the young villain, but All For One banishes him from Shigaraki's mindspace.
Returning to the real world, Deku observed that All For One began to take control of Shigaraki's body, although he no longer had the Decay powers he had passed on to his disciple. A small part of Tenko continued to fight against his sensei's control, frustrating the Symbol of Evil. The man placed his stone hand over Shigaraki's mouth, symbolically silencing him. Deku tries to stand up and fight against the Villain, who looks seriously injured but falls down again after feeling extreme pain. Look down, ,Deku can see that his arm has decomposed in real lifejust like in Tenko's mind.
Deku's last hope is his many friends and allies
As All For One began walking towards Deku, determined to reclaim One For All, white bandages wrapped around his body, blocking his progress. Sero arrives on the battlefield, reassuring Izuku that he will hold off the Villain until more help arrives. Hanta is not alone, he is also accompanied by Ojiro, who uses his skilled martial arts abilities to fight All For One while avoiding his touch. The two Hero students try their best to stop the Demon Emblem from reaching Izuku, but the Villain proves to be much stronger.
However, All For One noticed that his body felt weaker than it had a few minutes ago and that he did not have access to any of his stolen Quirks. From a portal seemingly opened by My Hero Academia's Kurogiri, Aizawa arrives and apologizes to Deku for his tardiness. He assured his injured student that more help was on the way. And so, the seemingly hopeless situation turned around thanks to Deku's loyal friends and allies.
Even with help, Deku's fate still seems grim in My Hero Academia
His friends may not be enough
When first introduced, Izuku is a scrawny and scared guy who feels like he doesn't belong in the superhero world. His lack of Quirk makes him a target of relentless bullying and neglect from others. Without All Might offering One For All, it's hard to imagine what would have happened to Deku. And yet, during that time, he was still able to improve himself and work hard to achieve his dream of becoming a hero. Even after losing his fate in the Hero Association, Deku is still strong enough to continue fighting.
Chapter 419 brings readers a Deku that no longer has the means to continue. While he still has the same determination to save everyone, he is physically incapable of prolonging his encounter with the Symbol of Evil. Izuku has never been more vulnerable and defenseless, both physically and mentally. Worst of all, it seems he failed to save Tenko from All For One's influence. Horikoshi is keeping up the trend of seriously injuring his main characters before the end of important events, as he did with Bakugo in chapters 362 and 404 of My Hero Academia.
Class 1-A may be My Hero Academia's last hope against all for one
While Deku is incapable of fighting against All For One, Horikoshi takes this opportunity to remind readers that the universe of My Hero Academia is filled with talented and sometimes underrated Heroes. Sero and Ojiro are two of the most forgotten students of Class 1-A due to their simple abilities and simple designs. However, they still possess a heroic heart that inspires Izuku to continue fighting. The presence of friends and teachers may help Deku realize that he is no longer the same child as before.
He is no longer an outcast and bullied for his incompetence. He has real friends who accept him for who he is and are willing to fight to keep him safe. He is supported by dozens of Pro Heroes, who will continue to fight All For One no matter what. Deku may be facing the darkest time of his life, but he has a support group that will help him get through this. Izuku's friends will definitely take care of the fight until he is healed and can continue the fight with The Symbol of Evil.
My Hero Academia is a series that teaches readers the value of cooperation and friendship. Deku's severe injuries are used to remind manga followers that this is not a conflict that one person can win alone. All Might failed to defeat All For One because he refused to allow anyone to help him. Izuku will have to learn from his teacher's mistakes and rely on his friends. Ultimately, everyone will have to unite to dispel the dark influence of My Hero Academy The worst villain once and for all.
