What happened in episode 16 of Dead Dead Demon's Dededede Destruction?
Produced by Production +h.; Directed by Tomoyuki Kurokawa
In episode #16 of Dead Dead Demon's Dededede Destruction, as the mothership slowly descends towards Earth, giant hands appear in the sky and create giant cracks of light in Japan and other parts of the world. Mysterious bubbles begin to pour out of the cracks, and while they seem harmless, Anyone and anything that touches the bubble will see the part it touched instantly destroyed in a bloody explosion.. This is both a clear side effect of the mothership's impending collapse and a prelude to the situation in Dead Dead Demon's episode #0 Dededede Destruction.
With little time left, Oba went to the mothership to end things, only to be attacked by Kohiruimaki, who wanted the end of the world to happen so he could take over the country afterwards. The invaders on the mothership, believing Oba to be one of them, fought back Kohiruimaki and let Oba in. From there, Oba used Isobeyan's password to shut down the engine, but unfortunately, Oba was too late to stop the mothership from exploding and could only make it slightly less catastrophic than it could have been..
While that was going on, the Occult Research Club slowly made its way back to Tokyo, with Makoto leaving early to go to her parents' house. As the group rested at a rest stop, Oran, remembering some of her past on a subconscious level, asked Kadode what she would do if everything with the invaders was her fault, and when Kadode said she would still be by her side, Oran naturally kissed her out of relief. The two joked around a bit more after that, and as they did so, The mother ship crashed into Tokyo and created a huge explosion..
In an extended sequence reminiscent of The End of Evangelion, Most of Dead Demon's Dededede Destruction is killed in a terrible explosion while an apocalyptic song plays in the backgroundAnd even those who weren't at Ground Zero were still clearly traumatized by it all. Yet despite this, Kadode and Oran both monologue about the strange sense of relief they felt, and how even if the world ended, they were both confident that everything would be okay as long as they had each other.
