Pony Canyon describes the story:
Rumors spread throughout the land: when the wielder of the black sword drew his dark sword, all those who stood in its way were torn to pieces…! There’s no denying Köinzell, the mysterious young man who wields the black sword, wields it with exceptional skill, but is he really responsible for the bloody rumors? Pursued by traitors, four powerful warriors were said to be defeated by the Seven Heroes, the young swordsman’s strength will be tested to the limit. When the battle is over, only the shocking truth of Köinzell’s mission stands above the corpses of his enemies… An epic fantasy on the grandest scale!
Shiono launched a manga sequel titled Übel Blatt II: The Knights of the Deceased King (Übel Blatt II: Shiseru Ō no Kishidan) in Square Enix’s Monthly Big Gangan magazine on Saturday.
The new manga is set one year after the final battle with Glenn, with Elseria crowned queen of an empire now in chaos and filled with dissidents. Köinzell, now Lord Ascheriit, is assisting Elseria in stabilizing the empire, along with the imperial general Geranpen, his principal officer Ato, and Blatt Meister Ikfes. On the Empire’s southern border, a new threat arises in the form of the Knights of the Fallen King, Glenn’s remaining loyalists who believe in his eventual return and is sowing unrest in remote areas of the empire.
Square Enix’s Young Gangan magazine began serializing Shiono’s Übel Blatt manga in 2004. In 2011, a spinoff manga titled Übel Blatt Gaiden was serialized in Young Gangan Big, a spinoff of Young Gangan. After a two-year hiatus, the main series returned to Big Gangan magazine in 2011. The 23rd and final compiled book volume was published in Japan in June 2019. Yen Press released Complete Übel Blatt in English.
