This episode has the least impact so far in season two. That’s not to say this episode was bad or poorly written, but compared to receiving bombshell after bombshell every week, this episode felt much lighter. Our couple is still working towards a proper follow-up to the love confession from two weeks ago and there’s a lot of groundwork going on as the seasons change.
The new school year is starting and Kyotaro’s birthday is the basis of this episode. A lot of it wasn’t mentioned first, even though Kyotaro took the initiative to invite Anna to his house. The second half of this episode is filled with humorous moments fueled by teenage hormones. I liked the visual humor with Kyotaro’s sexual desire fading as soon as his sister entered the room.
Even though our two lovebirds had a strong setup to build on, there was still no satisfying sequel. The basketball game between them was cute, especially the symbolism of Kyotaro’s determination to ask Anna out if he could make a basket just for Anna. That could symbolize an upcoming confession. It should be a common thing, not a burden on his shoulders. I also really liked the ending where Anna is trying to understand what it means to be a rebellious teenager at her job and she gets it when she has Kyotaro open up to her about his rebellious phase. he. He admits that there was nothing external that caused him to rebel; it’s all internal. This is perhaps the most direct thing Kyotaro says about his insecurity to Anna, and instead of rejecting him, she pulls him closer.
By opening his home to Anna, he showed he had no reason to act as withdrawn as he did. The moment she consoled him was really sweet, and at the end it was implied that Anna wanted Kyotaro to secretly kiss her goodnight or call her by her name. This was a great episode and the ending made me laugh out loud. There’s nothing here that pushes me over the edge compared to a few weeks ago. It’s a sign of a good show when the least interesting episode is one that doesn’t have a big blockbuster plot twist in it. This is proof of how strong this season has been.
