Wistoria: Wand and Sword became a huge hit for shōnen cartoon Viewers are looking for the next great action adventure. It has an interesting world, lovable side characters, and a protagonist who refuses to give up. The main character, Will Serfort, is a man who cannot use any magic in a society that doesn't care about anything else. While the world looks down on him for his inability to create magic, he honing his superhuman strength, protecting it from his own magical shortcomings.
Mashle: Magic and Muscles has a lot in common with Wistoria: Wand and Sword, and it's not just that their names are stylized similarly. Mash is also a non-magical person in a world full of magic, constantly embarrassed by his inability to create any magic of his own. He also spends his time honing his superhuman strength, using it to defeat his enemies, much to their surprise.
Muscle, Meet Sword
Superhuman strength always beats magic, sword or no sword
The people of both the worlds of Mashle and Wistoria rightly think that magic reigns supreme over all things. Basically, it does, until Will and Mash showed up. They have trained their superhuman bodies for a long time, constantly preparing them against powerful opponents. When the time comes to show their strength, everyone around them was blown away. Both are extremely humble characters, never using their powers aimlessly, so they only use it when absolutely necessary.
They often save someone who initially dislikes them, cementing their noble hero status. When they fight, it's usually to protect a classmate at an all-magic academy that they technically shouldn't be in. Both Mash and Will's friends are a huge support force for the pair, bring them acceptance and freedom from a world that does not accept it. Both schools have wise, responsible, and curious principals who are interested in the main character, helping just a little so as not to upset the balance of the world.
The biggest difference between the two shows is the tone. Mashle: Magic and Muscles is one of the funniest shows out there. Mash can't fly, but he can kick the air hard enough to fly.creating one of the funniest images in anime. If Mash wasn't completely oblivious to the situation around him, he'd probably be making a cake to shove in someone's face. Will from Wistoria: Wand and Sword doesn't have such a light luxury. He focuses on killing monsters and studying the history of his world so he can earn enough points to eventually reach the top of Mercedes Caulis and to be with his true loveElfaria Albis Serfort.
