Dragon Ball began as a manga series published by Shueisha in 1984. More recently, the Dragon Ball anime is part of the Dragon Ball Super series, which takes place after Majin Buu's defeat in Dragon Ball Z (1989-1996). Dragon Ball Daima is the first non-Super anime since Dragon Ball Super began in 2015.
