Crunchyroll announced on Friday that it will stream the Dragon Ball Daima anime series on October 11, the same day the anime premieres in Japan. Subtitled streams will be available in the United States, Canada, Latin America including Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India, and Southeast Asia.

The anime will premiere as a new anime programming block on Fuji TV on Fridays at 11:40 p.m. (10:40 a.m. EDT) starting October 11. The first episode will be 10 minutes longer than usual.
Dragon Ball Daima will make its world premiere at the special “Dragon Ball Daimatsuri” event (with “Daimatsuri” combining the words “Daima” and matsuri, meaning festival) on October 6 at Tokyo Big Sight. There will be three screenings of the anime’s first episode at 10:00 a.m., 2:15 p.m., and 6:00 p.m., with the cast in attendance for the first two screenings. The event, which celebrates the series’ 40th anniversary, is free to attend, but tickets will be purchased through a lottery.
Masako Nozawa will return to voice Son Goku. Other cast members include:

Yoshitaka Yashima (animation director for Dragon Ball Super, Digimon franchise) and Aya Komaki (One Piece series director, episode director for Marie & Gali) will serve as series directors, Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru (Dragon Ball Z, Digimon series) is adapting the character designs of the late Akira Toriyama for animation, and Yuuko Kakihara (Digimon Adventure tri. movies, 2022 Urusei Yatsura, Cells at Work!) is supervising and writing the series scripts. Franchise creator Akira Toriyama is credited as story and character designer for the new anime.
Zedd feat. C&K. (CLIEVY and KEEN) will perform the opening theme song “Jaka Jaan.”ZEDD feat. Ai will perform the ending theme song “Nakama”(Companions) which was composed by Zedd specifically for the anime. Singer-songwriter Ai wrote the lyrics for the ending theme song.
In the series, Goku, Vegeta, Bulma, and other characters throughout the series become younger than usual. However, this is different from the similar storyline in the Dragon Ball GT anime, where Goku returns to being a child after the end of the original series. Although the title “Daima” does not make any sense, the kanji can be interpreted as “Demon” in English.
The Dragon Ball Super anime television series premiered in July 2015 and aired 131 episodes as of March 2018. Funimation and Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired, while Funimation released the series on home video. The Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero anime film premiered in Japan in June 2022 and in the United States that August. Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures released the film in theaters worldwide.
