Spy x Family Code: White will hit North American theaters next year.
As detailed in a recent press release, popular anime streaming company Crunchyroll has acquired the distribution rights to Spy x Family’s first anime series. In collaboration with Sony Pictures Entertainment, the company plans to release Code White to viewers in the United States, Canada, Latin America, Austrailia/New Zealand and select territories in Europe. Once released, audiences will have the option to watch the film in Japanese (with English subtitles) or dubbed in English. Recently, Toho Animation introduced the final trailer of Code White to the eager fan base of the series.
Tatsuya Endo’s hit manga Spy x Family revolves around the world’s strangest family; a secret agent, an assassin and a young girl with psychic abilities. While living undercover as a psychologist in a small town, Loid Forger (aka Agent Twilight) secretly completes missions to protect the safety of his hometown, Westalis . Unbeknownst to him, his wife, Yor, is the deadly Princess Thorn. His psychic daughter Anya also knows about his spy work and tries to help him whenever possible. The film adaptation of the popular series from CloverWorks and Wit Studios debuted in April 2022 and has made an indelible impression on the anime world, topping popularity charts in Japan and beyond again. While Spy x Family is currently in the middle of its second season, Code White features an original standalone story written by Ichiro Okouchi (Code Geass, Lelouch of the Rebellion).
The film’s story begins with new developments in Operation Strix, Agent Twilight’s plan to prevent civil war by infiltrating an elite school called Eden Academy and influencing the Prime Minister. Ostania, Donovan Desmond. To help Anya climb the ranks in Eden, he decides to help her win the annual cooking competition by tracking down the principal’s favorite recipes. In the process, Anya accidentally causes a series of events that seriously threaten world peace. Takashi Katagiri, who serves as assistant director for the television series, will be in the director’s chair for Code White.
Since its debut, Spy x Family has received near-universal acclaim from fans and critics alike for its humorous yet poignant storyline and lovable characters. In addition to receiving nominations for both the Harvey and Eisner awards, the manga also earned a spot on the New York Times bestseller list in the Comics and Graphic Novel categories. Spy x Family Season 2 debuted last month and is currently showing the “Road Adventure” arc, one of the series’ most popular storylines.
The Spy x Family anime adaptation is currently available to stream on Crunchyroll and Hulu. The original manga is available in English on VIZ Media.
