Kizumonogatari: Koyomi Vamp was released in theaters in Japan on January 12, 2024. It is a compilation film that summarizes the previously released Kizumonogatari trilogy (consisting of Kizumonogatari Part 1: Tekketsu, Kizumonogatari Part 2: Nekketsu, and Kizumonogatari Part 3: Reiketsu), which aired in Japan from 2016 to 2017.
The Kizumonogatari films are adaptations of the third volume of Nisio Isin's long-running supernatural light novel series Monogatari and serve as a prequel to 2006's Bakemonogatari Parts 1 and 2. Vofan contributed illustrations to the original novel series.
The light novels have inspired several anime adaptations, starting with 2009's Bakemonogatari, directed by Tatsuya Oishi, who also directed the Kizumonogatari trilogy. Other previous Monogatari anime were directed by Tomoyuki Itamura (Call of the Night, The Case Study of Vanitas).
The latest anime adaptation, Monogatari Series: Off & Monster Season, will begin airing on July 6, 2024.
Crunchyroll describes the summary of Kizumonogatari: Koyomi Vamp as:
It was a fateful evening when Koyomi Araragi encountered her – Kiss-shot Acerola-orion Heart-under-blade: Legendary Vampire, Incarnate Killer, and Incarnate King. Her legs and arms were brutally torn off, her luxurious dress soaked in red; she was a monster in a tragic state, lying in a pool of her own blood. Yet, Koyomi found her beautiful in this way.
