Over the years, Valve has developed some of the most popular games on the Internet. Half-Life, Counter-Strike, Dota, and Team Fortress.
These names all created a huge buzz when they were released, attracting a large number of players and of course, having a strong influence on the world gaming community. But at the present time, it seems that only Counter-Strike 2 and to some extent DOTA 2 are still attracting attention.
Now, as Valve shifts its focus heavily to Deadlock – their brand new third-person MOBA shooter – Counter-Strike 2 fans are starting to get worried.
Many gamers feared that Counter-Strike 2 would soon join the ranks of Team Fortress – the outdated and forgotten shooters. Even at its peak, Counter-Strike was overshadowed by DOTA 2 – the game that Gabe favored the most. Now, with Valve preparing to launch Deadlock – a game in the same genre, Counter-Strike gamers have even more reason to worry.
Just look at Team Fortress' dismal history since 2015 to see how Valve has “forgotten” it. There have been no more updates/activities, aside from a few bug fixes and minor changes – a sign that Valve has seemingly abandoned its beloved child. For Counter-Strike 2, things haven't been as bad, at least it was upgraded from CS:GO just last year, but that transition was met with mixed reviews. Now, the game is even more divisive after changing the jump mechanics.
It's unclear what Counter-Strike 2's fate will be when Deadlock launches, but it's certain that the game will be a priority after Valve's blockbuster.
