CoMix Wave Films, known for its collaborations with director Makoto Shinkai, has taken a major step towards engaging with Indian fans by launching a dedicated Instagram account. This initiative launched on September 27 aims to provide relevant information to fans residing in India. This move reflects the studio’s commitment to diversifying its animation offerings in the Indian market.
Makoto Shinkai, known for masterpieces like “Your Name,” directed the movie “Suzume” at CoMix Wave Films. “Suzume” made its mark in Indian cinemas, releasing in Hindi and Japanese with English subtitles on April 21. The film achieved considerable success, crossing ₹10.00, 00,000 (about US$1,210,393) at the Indian box office as of May 26. This milestone makes “Suzume” the highest-earning Japanese film in India, surpassing popular titles like “Jujutsu Kaisen 0”.
To strengthen its connect with the Indian audience, CoMix Wave Films organized early preview screening of “Suzume” in key cities like Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida and Bangalore on April 9. Following the positive response, a second round of premiere screenings for fans was held in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi and Kolkata on April 16. The film was also part of the Makoto Shinkai Film Festival, screening at over 100 location.

The studio’s engagement efforts went beyond screenings, with a special meet-and-greet event featuring Makoto Shinkai in Mumbai ahead of the film’s premiere.
