YouTube channel Toei Eiga uploaded a clip from the anime film Kitaro Tanjou: GeGeGe no Nazo, which began screening in Japan on November 17. The clip captures Mizuki’s first meeting with Kitaro’s father.
Kitaro Tanjou: GeGeGe no Nazo is part of the project commemorating the 100th birthday of the late creator GeGeGe no Kitaro Shigeru Mizuki. The film’s premise involves Medama-yaji and Kitaro entering the ruins of Nagura Village, causing Medama-yaji to remember the events that occurred there 70 years ago.

According to Kogyo Tsushin, Kitaro Tanjou: GeGeGe no Nazo ended its opening weekend in second place on the weekend box office chart. The film recorded an audience of 111,500 and a total revenue of 160 million yen (~US$1.08 million) in its first three days of release.
The GeGeGe no Kitaro franchise began in 1960 with the rental manga Hakaba Kitaro. 1965 saw the release of the manga series GeGeGe no Kitaro.
The first GeGeGe no Kitaro anime aired from 1968 to 1969, while the newest series began airing in 2018. An anime based on Hakaba Kitaro premiered in 2008.
