Osabe’s mother later told him that it was dead. Her answer was cold, and it could send chills to anyone, but to Osabe, that sounded pretty normal. Osabe, like any other middle school student, has friends, a loving family and also a crush on a girl. One day, on the way to school, Osabe meets his friends and they playfully tease each other. While there during swimming lessons, Osabe sees his beloved Fukishi talking to a boy, and he teases her about it when she comes and scares him.
After a fun day at school, while leaving their house, Osabe and his friends plan to meet at Ogura’s house the next day. When he got home, Osabe’s mother told him that his grandparents were coming tomorrow, so Osabe canceled his plan.
As they sat down to lunch, Osabe told his mother about the dream he had the night before, his mother’s answer was a little strange, but as usual, it was normal for him. His mother, in a strange voice, told him that she had no idea what happened to that cat. Osabe’s mother is overprotective. Although he didn’t believe it, a certain incident began to open his eyes. He soon realizes his life is not as normal as he thought.
Earlier on Chi no Wadachi Chapter 142: Summary
In the previous Chapter, we saw Osabe’s mother being discharged from the hospital after she was hospitalized due to her injuries. Osabe paid the hospital bills and brought her mother home, while helping her out. After arriving at the house of Ms. Tamiya just sat down and didn’t respond or react to anything Osabe asked.
He asked her if she had any money left from the last time he gave it to her, but he got no answer from his mother. So he checks his mother’s bank book where he sees some deposits and wonders if his mother is working.
Before he left, he brought her some food and told her he would come back again, then went to work. After coming home from work, Osabe finds his mother lying on the ground in the same place he’s been since he left. She has no will to live.
Osabe opened the bag and found a packet of meat buns in it that reminded him of his childhood and his mother often asked him if he wanted to eat one. He feeds his mother a meat bun with his hands. Even though she is no longer interested in life, he still tries to let her live.
Chi no Wadachi Chapter 143: What to expect in the next chapter?
We saw how Miss Tamiya had lost her will to live, but Osabe tried to let her live. His love for his mother has not died yet, and he will take care of her until the end. Will Tamiya get well soon or not? Will her son and her relationship get better or worse? We will get acquainted with all of this in the next volume.
