Look Back, the upcoming anime film based on the one-shot manga by Chainsaw Man’s Tatsuki Fujimoto, has shared an official first look at the film’s character designs along with a previously announced release date. .
The official Look Back anime website announced that the film will be released on June 28 in Japan. It has now been revealed that Yuumi Kawai will play Fujino, while Mizuki Yoshida will play Kyomoto. Both actors are voicing for this film for the first time. The film’s official X (formerly Twitter) account shared the first look at the character designs of the two female leads.

Originally published as a web manga on the Shonen Jump+ app, Look Back is a short story depicting the artistic rivalry between Fujino and Kyomoto. Despite their differences in personalities, Fujino and Kyomoto inspired each other through their artwork throughout their school lives. However, a tragedy changed their past and future forever. Fujimoto wrote Looking Back in 2021, three years after Chainsaw Man’s 2018 release in Weekly Shonen Jump. Reviews have praised Look Back for its emotional storytelling and visual realism that develops throughout the story. The one-shot is available to read in English on the Viz Media and Manga Plus apps.
