The official Look Back website provides information and official comments from the voice actors. They both passed the auditions to win the role and their performance in Look Back was teased so fans couldn’t “believe this was their first tryout”. When receiving the role, Yumi Kawai said:My name is Yumi Kawai and I play the role of Fujino.’Look Back’ is a manga that has touched the hearts of many people. This time, Director Oshiyama and the rest of the production team created an animated film, and I added breath and voice to the story in an attempt to add new color to the era in which Fujino and Kyomoto is alive. This was the first time I had the opportunity to enter the anime world and I tried my best to convey Fujino’s earnest voice along with her wonderful body movements in the drawings. Remember to watch the movie “Look Back” in theaters!
Yoshida said: When I first read ‘Look Back’, I was shocked by the realistic world that Tatsuki Fujimoto had drawn, and I was really curious to see how this work would be adapted into a movie. . I was looking forward to it. When I auditioned for Kyomoto and saw this video for the first time, I was so moved that even though this was an unfinished picture, I said, ‘Wow! That world is still alive!’ and I burst into tears during the recording, and cried even more when watching Fujino and Kyomoto’s footage. I really loved the book. This is my first time as a voice actor but I put my heart and soul into my role. I will be happy if you can look forward to it.
Look Back was directed and written by Kiyotaka Oshiyama, and the animation was done at Studio Duran. The film will hit theaters on June 28, 2024. Readers can check out the trailer, images, and cast of the first Look Back. VIZ licensed the manga, describing it: Overconfident Fujino and withdrawn Kyomoto couldn’t be more different, but a love of drawing manga brings these two small-town girls together. A profound story about growing up and moving forward that only Tatsuki Fujimoto, the author of Chainsaw Man, could create.
