The Transformers series is best known for delighting fans around the world for generations, but not for being delicious. Now that's changed with a truly chocolatey treat: Leader's Autobot Dessert.
The release of the new Transformers One has resulted in a candy collaboration of epic proportions. Recreating the original design of an iconic Autobot leader, this dessert is sure to give Decepticons pause. It's also been created by a legendary chef, making it an energon-fueled treat.
Celebrity Chef Recreates Optimus Prime's Head Using Only Chocolate
Renowned pastry chef and now honorary Autobot Amaury Guichon was recently tasked with creating the head of Autobot leader Optimus Prime, using only the finest, most high-tech, and highest-quality ingredient: chocolate. As seen on the chef’s Instagram and YouTube, the process is as intensive as forging a Cybertronian from the smelting pools of Kaon. Starting with a giant ball of chocolate, Guichon added several different “plates” made from the same material to this base. From there, more plates, designs, folds, and whiskers were placed or etched to complete the look, along with two blue LEDs to make Prime’s eyes “more than meets the eye.” Food coloring was used to give the Autobot his recognizable blue and gray head, which has been a part of his design since Generation 1.
The occasion for this transforming treat is the release of the new Transformers One animated film. It’s a prequel animated film that showcases the early days of both Optimus Prime and Megatron, with Optimus Prime starting out as the lowly Orion Pax. It all comes as the Transformers franchise celebrates its 40th anniversary, largely through the release of new toys, comics and animated projects. Amaury Guichon is famous for his similar chocolate sculptures, and he’s also hosted shows like Dessert Masters and MasterChef Australia.
