Overview of Bucchigiri Volume 12
Bucchigiri?! is a new anime series and an original anime from MAPPA, the studio behind popular shows like Attack on Titan and Jujutsu Kaisen. The movie is scheduled to come out this January, so it's almost here!
The series has been described as a return to the thug/Yanki anime genre, which was popular in the late 90s and early 2000s with shows like Cromartie High and Great Teacher Onizuka.
Directed by Hiroko Utsumi and story by Taku Kishimoto, the series also includes music composition by Michiru Ōshima, while character designs are by Takahiro Kagami.
The opening theme, “Sesame” by Kroi, sets the tone and the ending theme will be Love je t'aime (らぶじゅてーむ)” by Mahiru Coda (甲田まひる).
I've tried my best to keep the review as spoiler-free as possible, but there are certain elements that I have to cover in order to give a proper response.

Bucchigiri Episode 12 Review and Summary: Arajin ultimately wishes for something else
The final episode was definitely better than I expected. However, it's not something too different because it's a very predictable ending.
However, that doesn't mean we don't see some really good moments. The episode begins with Arajin asking Senya to merge with him so he can save his friend. Before that, we also see Arajin as the one who approached Matakara in the first place and tried to befriend him. Therefore, one can imagine how that friend would feel if he were suddenly and unexpectedly betrayed. So Matakara's outrage is quite justified when we consider their past.
But in this episode, we also find out why Ichiya is so determined to defeat Senya. His reasons are understandable, but since everything fell apart in just one episode, it felt a bit rushed. If we had explored their relationship more it would have been better.
Other than that, another big mystery is also solved and we finally know who Jasmine Chan is. And even though I tried not to reveal so much, I still have to reveal Jasmine Chan's identity. She is none other than a cat that her admirer loved so passionately that he took her with him and ran away.
But the most important thing is the character development of Arajin, who goes from an unacceptable Simp to an acceptable Simp. Yes, he cares for his friends and tries his best to save Matakara, but his original personality remains the same. And honestly, this is better than him turning over a new leaf right away. His change must be gradual and not happen overnight, which is why this seems like a more realistic approach.
Verdict
I liked this episode, but overall, this anime didn't impress me much. It's a pretty normal show that I enjoy watching on a regular basis. The animation and production are quite good, but the plot and characters are where the anime falls short. Honestly, there's nothing wrong with Simp characters, they're quite funny and if done right, they'll become one of the most popular characters, like Zenitsu, but that's not the case with Arajin.
But at the end of the day, this movie does have its high points so if you're someone who enjoys comedy with some unique characters then you might want to check this out.
