Super Saiyans collide in the new Broly and Gogeta Dragon Ball statues
The legendary Super Saiyan puts his best foot forward on Gogeta in this highly detailed anime statue based on the movie Dragon Ball Super: Broly.
Broly has been part of the Dragon Ball franchise for over 30 years
Dragon Ball’s new wallpaper highlights Broly’s dual nature; The “good Saiyan berserker” was first introduced in the 1993 Dragon Ball Z series Broly: The Legendary Super Saiyan. Born with power comparable to Prince Vegeta, Broly was banished from his Saiyan homeworld by Vegeta’s father. Years later, Broly’s father, Paragus, devised a plot to lure Goku to their planet so that Broly could kill him, thereby freeing the father-son duo to take over Earth. The success of this film led to the creation of two sequel films titled Broly: Second Coming and Bio Broly, both of which were released in 1994.
Decades later, Broly has evolved from a foolish villain intent on destruction into a loyal ally of the Z Warriors. In 2018, Toei Animation officially canonized the Saiyan warrior in the film 2018’s fan favorite Dragon Ball Super: Broly. This film reintroduces the main character as a sympathetic character whose powers have been manipulated for evil purposes. After a lengthy battle with Goku and Vegeta, Broly comes to his senses and makes peace with his fellow Saiyans. In the Dragon Ball Super manga, Broly first appears in a flashback to the film at the end of the “Universe Survival” arc, in which he is shown having a duel with Goku and Vegeta.
