boruto will soon return from a long-anticipated hiatus, but while this move into the future will certainly lead to deeper and more intense story arcs for Boruto, Kawaki , Eida and Sarada, the flip side is that other characters – including some of the story’s most interesting and iconic personalities – will be removed and possibly never seen again.
Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto is no stranger to the classic manga/anime plot tool called time-skip. He introduced it in Naruto between Chapters #238 and #245, representing the nearly three-year period during which Naruto trained with Jiraiya, Sasuke studied with Orochimaru, and Akatsuki prepared for war. Just like in Boruto in the previous time-skip, in addition to the main characters, Naruto also has a lot of interesting and funny personalities, including young shinobi from Konoha like Shikamaru and Rock Lee, plus other young shinobi from Konoha like Shikamaru and Rock Lee. experienced veteran like Kakashi. This impressive cast contributed to the initial success of the series, but unfortunately, after a lapse of time, these characters never received the same limelight again.
Boruto’s Time Skip won’t be kind to the supporting cast
If what happens in Naruto is any indication, the upcoming period in Boruto will certainly also see some of the most popular and interesting characters in its own story being pushed. sidelined, or otherwise quietly sunk into the background despite their potential. Based on the story so far, which includes various sub-plots where, basically, any character that is not in the small circle of the main characters will be dropped to the background, continuing a trend upset that angered many franchise fans.
The supporting character most clearly suited to this role is Amado. Amado’s unmatched expertise, unclear motives, and mysterious background make him one of Part I’s most intriguing characters. However, after his secret is revealed in Boruto Chapter #75, he becomes increasingly irrelevant in the story. While he may still have a role to play, it’s unlikely he’ll enjoy the same level of relevance after the hiatus. Orochimaru’s son, Mitsuki is another supporting character who is likely to be reduced to a role after the time-skip despite his potential and the considerable attention Mitsuki has received in the anime. However, any potential he has has never been further developed by the creators to suggest a larger role in a story that is likely to revolve around the conflict between Boruto and Kawaki, especially is considering that Mitsuki was also fascinated by Eida.
Some Boruto characters will never live up to the hype
However, the character that will lose the most in Part II is Code, the current leader of Kara. Besides having an entire arc dedicated to his story in Part I and having a legitimate stake in any conflict between Boruto and Kawaki, Kara’s disappointing weakening as a threat also reduces his relevance to the story. Indeed, despite its promise to attack Konoha and access to the Ten-Tails in its new humanoid form, Code must have fallen to Eida’s Almighty Power. While this supports his grudge against Boruto, it will nullify his greatest wish – to get rid of Kawaki. In any case, the situation turns Code from a major villain to a supporting character.
This is not to say that these characters will become completely irrelevant, but that their potential, carefully built in the first part of the series. borutowould never happen in Part II, if Masashi Kishimoto ever used the time-skip in Naruto is any indication.
