Warning: Contains spoilers for Boruto: Two Blue Vortex #3.Boruto: Two blue tornadoes chapter #3 revealed Boruto’s new Rasengan Uzuhiko power and it’s clearly inspired by another classic Shounen manga: JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. After Code refused to take Boruto into the Ten-Tails’ main body, Boruto unleashed his strongest jutsu, Rasengan Uzuhiko, which essentially copied Johhny Joestar’s strongest attack of Steel Ball Run.
Rasengan Uzuhiko’s abilities were finally revealed in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter #3, and it appears to be inspired by JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. It’s unknown whether Boruto was explicitly referencing JoJo or not, but with Rasengan Uzuhiko’s uncanny resemblance to a specific character’s abilities, it’s hard to see it as anything other than intentional.
Inspiration comes from the main character of JoJo Part 7: Steel Ball Run, Johnny Joestar, and the evolved form of Stand, Tusk. Considering the power unleashed by Tusk’s strongest attack, it gives a good idea of both how strong the Rasengan Uzuhiko jutsu is and how strong Boruto can be for the rest of the series.
Boruto’s new Rasengan copies Steel Ball Run’s Johnny Joestar
Rasengan Uzuhiko works by imparting the planet’s rotation into the target and causing them to become dizzy and deal continuous damage that lasts indefinitely. In Steel Ball Run, Johnny Joestar can use Tusk ACT 4, his strongest form of Stand, to cause someone an “infinite spin” that causes their body to continuously twist at a cellular level for until destroyed. The overlap between the two possibilities is impossible to ignore, so it’s very possible that Rasengan Uzuhiko was inspired by Tusk ACT 4.
Of course, there are some key differences between them. The code is unlikely to last that long, technically Rasengan Uzuhiko can be stopped if the planet’s rotation stops, but Tusk ACT 4’s infinite rotation can only be stopped by cutting remove an affected area before it spreads to the whole body or if Johnny himself negates it with an infinite rotation in the opposite direction. There are enough differences between them to make for different techniques, but even so, it’s very possible that Boruto: Two Blue Vortex used JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run as inspiration for the latest development mine.
Boruto’s JoJo reference shows how strong he is supposed to be
With Rasengan Uzuhiko drawing clear parallels to Tusk ACT 4, it also shows how strong Boruto will be in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex. Tusk ACT 4 not only makes Johnny Joestar the strongest character in Steel Ball Run, but also makes him one of the strongest characters in the series, something that was emphasized in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Eyes of Heaven when Johnny is one of the only characters to attack Heaven Ascend DIO. This is based on Tusk being able to create the Golden Spin, an infinite state of rotation close to the perfection of the Golden Rectangle – a supernatural power in the series based on real-life geometric proportions.
If Boruto is inspired by something similar, then that means readers should expect him to become one of the strongest characters in the series. For reference, Tusk and Golden Spin can generate infinite energy and they can counter the strongest Stand powers in JoJo, specifically President Valentine’s D4C and Diego Brando’s The World. Boruto: Two blue tornadoes Taking such clear inspiration from this one JoJo’s Bizarre AdventureThe strongest characters will certainly make fans eager to see what heights the protagonist will reach in Two Blue Vortex.
