The Boruto manga sequel returns on August 21 and introduces a new look at Sarada after the timeskip.
Via Twitter, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex replaced Naruto Next Generations as the official name of the future series. The announcement confirms that Masashi Kishimoto will continue as the scriptwriter, with art by Mikio Ikemoto providing a first look at Sarada after the timeskip. Wearing new earrings and a necklace, some fans theorize that her jacket could actually be borrowed or inspired by Boruto.
The title Two Blue Vortex appears to be a nod to the ominous words of Momoshiki Ōtsutsuki, one of the overarching villains of the Boruto manga – The Ōtsutsuki Family. Fans first heard the warning in 2015’s Boruto: Naruto the Movie when Momoshiki told Boruto, “Your blue eyes will one day take everything from you.” Momoshiki has since interfered with Boruto’s life, with his actions partly inspiring Kawaki to turn into a rogue ninja at the end of the manga. Leaving behind Naruto Next Generations, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex will continue from where the manga left off in Chapter 80. With Eida’s Almighty Power swapping the roles of Kawaki and Boruto, Boruto left the village with Sasuke while only Eida, Sumire, and Sarada knew the truth.
While fans need to wait through the hiatus, this year has seen the Naruto-verse continue to grow with adaptations. The Sasuke and Sakura side story THE UCHIHA AND THE HEAVENLY STARDUST: THE MANGA and KONOHA’S STORY based on the sensei—THE STEAM NINJA SCROLLS was released recently while Boruto’s grandparents, also known as the Fourth Hokage Minato and Kushina Uzumaki appeared in a THERL NARUTO scene.
There are no new details on the return of the Boruto: Naruto Next Generations anime following the announcement that it is in development. After the last episode of episode 293 was broadcast, writer Masaya Honda wrote, “Thank you for watching season 1 of Boruto. Today, the ending song ‘See you later’ made me even more emotional. I would like to quote a part of the lyrics because it fits my feelings right now. If you want to say goodbye, I’ll add ‘see you soon’.’ See you someday!”
Boruto – Part 2: Two Green Swirls will be released in V Jump Special Issue on August 21st.
