BLUE LOCK returns in 2024, releasing a new teaser and first trailer for BLUE LOCK Episode: Nagi.
The official BLUE LOCK PR account started the day with an innocuous post, showcasing a scene of Nagi’s ‘selfism’ from season 1. This was before the premiere of the first official trailer. for the movie Episode Nagi. Ishikawa Shunsuke [season 1 assistant director] directs the spinoff manga adaptation, illustrated by Kota Sannomiya, and based on Nagi and Reo’s perspective during the events of the original BLUE LOCK anime.
The film will summarize the parts of BLUE LOCK but re-introduce the story from Nagi’s point of view. The description provided can be summed up as follows: “BLUE LOCK: Episode Nagi focuses on Nagi Seishiro, a second year high school student who lives his life according to his iconic catchphrase, ‘ This is annoying.’ After meeting Reo Mikage, whose big dream is to win the World Cup, Nagi’s genius is put to the test against the best strikers.” BLUE LOCK: Episode Nagi differentiates itself from the original manga through its humor, quirks, and exploration of Nagi and Reo’s relationship.
BLUE LOCK celebrates another milestone
BLUE LOCK celebrates another major milestone, firmly cementing its position as one of the best-selling manga of all time with over 28 million copies in circulation. As part of a new generation of manga, this achievement puts BLUE LOCK only behind Jujutsu Kaisen and Spy x Family in sales of manga released after 2018.
Eight Bit (BLUE LOCK, That Time I Was Reborn As A Slime) is animating the film and is on the production committee along with NAMCO BANDAI and Kodansha. Nobunaga Shimzaki will take on the role of Nagi Seishiro, and will feature the cast. Yuma Uchida (Reo Mikage), Kazuyuki Okitsu (Zantetsu Tsurugi), Kazuki Ura (Isagi Yoichi), Tasuku Kaito (Meguru Bachira), Yuki Ono (Rensuke Kunigami), Soma Saito (Hyōma Chigiri), Junichi Suwabe (Shoei Barou), Koki Uchiyama (Rin Itoshi) and Hiroshi Kamiya (Jinpachi Ego), Jun Muruyama returns to compose the music, and Taku Kishimoto will coordinate the script.
BLUE LOCK is written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura. With the caption, “My life is boring. Until I Meet Him,” BLUE LOCK: Episode Nagi will hit theaters sometime in spring 2024.
