Blue Lock-Episode Nagi-is scheduled to open in Japan on April 19, 2024. The film is based on Blue Lock’s spin-off manga of the same name, which features the perspective of Seishiro Manga The Blue Lock-Episode Nagi- begins serialization in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine in 2022.
The main Blue Lock comic series began serialization in 2018 and has 27 tankoubon volumes as of December 2023. It is serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine and published under the Kodansha Comics label. Both Blue Lock and -Episode Nagi- were written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro, and drawn by Yuusuke Nomura and Kouta Sannomiyacorresponding.
Kodansha USA describes the plot of Blue Lock as:
After a disastrous defeat at the 2018 World Cup, the Japanese team struggled to regroup. But what’s missing? An excellent Striker who can guide them to victory. The Football Association is determined to create a striker who is hungry for goals and hungry for victory, and who can be the decisive tool to turn the losing game around…and to do that, they have trained brings together 300 of Japan’s best and brightest young players. Who will emerge to lead the team…and will they be able to overcome the muscle and ego of those who stand in their way?
The 24-episode Blue Lock anime series premiered in October 2022. A second season has been announced.
