When talking about the blockbusters with the most “troubled” fates in the world of gaming, it is probably difficult to ignore the name Cyberpunk 2077.
The reason for saying so is that initially, this game was highly anticipated when the project was announced with an investment of up to hundreds of millions of dollars. In addition, the images of Cyberpunk 2077 in the trailers were also extremely eye-catching. However, everything collapsed very quickly with countless errors, performance issues and many other shortcomings afterwards.
But just as quickly, after the initial failure, developer CD Projekt seemed determined to regain its position. Then, with the release of the animated adaptation Cyberpunk: Edgerunners accompanied by a series of in-game edits, Cyberpunk 2077 suddenly became hot again and rose to become a real blockbuster. Despite its rather expensive price, to date, Cyberpunk 2077 has sold 25 million copies and is one of the best “overcoming difficulties” games of all time.
And it seems that the attraction from the name Cyberpunk 2077 has not shown any signs of cooling down after many years.
The proof is that recently, a board game inspired by Cyberpunk 2077 has just called for funding from the community. Surprisingly, the development team only took 10 minutes to receive the amount of donations that met KPI (about 100,000 USD – 2.5 billion VND). Even up to now, that number has not stopped and the amount of money that the community donated to the project has reached 1.9 million USD (nearly 50 billion VND) – an impressive milestone.
The project is called Cyberpunk 2077 – The Board Game. Hopefully, with the above amount of money, developer Go On Board will bring a truly quality product. Not to mention, this is not the first time Cyberpunk 2077 has been adapted into a board game, but the previous project, Cyberpunk 2077: Gangs of Night City, only raised $886,783 on Kickstarter.
