In Chapter 542 of Blech, fans get to see Ichigo’s new look as he wields two swords in his hands – one shorter and the other a large curved sword resembling the zanpakuto we’re all used to. belong.
Earlier in the war against Hascwalth, a subordinate of Quincy King Yhwach, Ichigo’s zanpakuto transformed into a Bankai form. Gotei’s 12th Division captain Mayuri informs Ichigo that only a damaged zanpakuto in Shikai form can be brought back after it is damaged.
Unfortunately, Ichigo’s sword was broken in his Bankai form, and Mayuri’s words were like rubbing salt in his wounds, especially after he lost to Quincy.
Surprisingly, Squad Zero’s Ichibei tells Ichigo that there might be a way to get his zanpakuto back to the Imperial Palace, and that Ouetsu Nimaiya will be a must for success.
The only catch is that it won’t bring back his old Zangetsu. Ichigo and Renji go to see Nimaiya, and they see a lot of men and women around his house, who are revealed to be zanpakuto.
Nimaiya tells Ichigo and Renji that he will only forge their zanpakuto after they have won against the Asauchi avatars surrounding them. Ichigo, Renji, and Asauchi fight for three days before Nimaiya declares that Renji has won, even though Ichigo failed the test.
Nimaiya explains that it is important for a person to know their true nature, and Ichigo is clearly not aware of himself. Ichigo returns after learning of his Quincy ancestry and is once again surrounded by Asauchi.
However, Ichigo didn’t start fighting Asauchi right away, and Nimaiya could tell that there was something clearly different about Ichigo now.
Instead, Ichigo reached out his hand towards one of the Asauchi, who took the form of Hollow Ichigo. Nimaiya decides to use Ichigo’s Inner Hollow to create a new zanpakuto.
He also informs Ichigo that the entity he mistook for Zangetsu is actually a manifestation of his Quincy powers. Ichigo eventually made peace with both his inner identities and a new zanpakuto was formed.
Zanpakuto is actually split into two blades – one is the power of his Quincy part and the other is his inner hollow.
