The latest look at the world of Burn the Witch has been revealed with key art and a new trailer for the anime special.
The official team behind the Burn the Witch prequel anime, Burn the Witch #0.8, has released a brand new trailer for the upcoming premiere. Fans are reintroduced to the main characters first introduced in Studio Colorido’s 2020 film. The boisterous Ninny Spangcole and the reserved Noel Niihashi return, alongside new character Shelby, voiced by Subaru Kimura (Aoi Todo, Jujutsu Kaisen, Haruki, Tokyo Revengers). The official Burn the Witch website describes Shelby as Balgo’s best friend, who appears in the new key art below.
While the prequel aims to lay the groundwork that fans know from the Burn the Witch movie — even announcing the return of NiL, who sings the original theme song — NiL has revealed that the anime This time will bring a different atmosphere from her latest comment. When it was announced that she would be performing the new opening song, “PROVE,” NiL commented, “Congratulations on the release of ‘BURN THE WITCH #0.8’! I’m so happy that I was able to sing the theme song again as NiL. Taking on a multitude of different songs so that the world could be more open BTW, I was able to create a different atmosphere from the previous one ♬. I hope this brings joy and excitement to the ears and eyes of everyone watching and listening. “
Besides the announcement that Burn the Witch will be broadcast worldwide from December 29, 2023, the original series titled “Part 1” will also be broadcast in Japan. Tite Kubo’s Burn the Witch concludes a year that saw a resurgence in the Bleach creator’s works and will be followed by the third installment of Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War, The Conflict, sometime in 2024. The original cast will return in Burn the Witch #0.8, as will original director Tatsuro Kawano.
Crunchyroll streamed the first Burn the Witch movie and described it as follows: “Historically, 72% of deaths in London have involved dragons, fantastical creatures invisible to the majority of people people. Although unknown to most people, some people have stood up to these dragons. Only residents of Reverse London who live on the hidden ‘reverse’ side of London can see the dragons. Even then, only a select few are qualified as witches or wizards to come into direct contact with them. The story is about the wizard duo Noel Niihashi and Ninny Spangcole. They are protective agents of Wing Bind (WB), an organization that manages and preserves dragons. Their mission is to protect and manage the dragons in London on behalf of the people.
