Black Myth: Wukong – The action role-playing game has been making waves in the world in recent days, attracting more than 2.2 million users at the same time when it was launched. Not only scoring points in graphics and effects, the game also satisfies the eye thanks to its captivating plot, leading players and even outsiders who do not know much about the game.
Black Myth: Wukong from developer Game Science, has been described by some critics as the “Chinese God of War”.
The storyline in the game is not simply a copy of Journey to the West. Instead, the sequel after Sun Wukong returns from his pilgrimage is expanded and developed.
The sequel to “Journey to the West” is causing a global stir.
After completing the mission assigned by Buddha, overcoming 80 hardships, the four masters and disciples of Tang Monk went to the West to seek the scriptures, each of them had a place in heaven. Only Sun Wukong was ordained as Buddha with the title of Fighting and Winning Buddha.
However, Wukong refused to become a Buddha, escaped from the restraints and rules, and returned to Huaguo Mountain to live a free and easy life, making Heaven angry. Worried about Sun Wukong's recklessness, Heaven sent Yang Jian Erlang Shen, the four great heavenly kings, and tens of thousands of heavenly soldiers and generals to confront the Great Sage, even slaughtering the monkeys at Huaguo Mountain, making Wukong angry.
The decisive battle between Wukong and Erlang Shen took place. At the moment of intense fighting, the golden ring once again returned to Wukong's head, causing the Great Sage pain. Taking advantage of the opportunity, Erlang Shen delivered a fatal blow, defeating Wukong. The Great Sage's body was sealed inside the rock.
The soul of the Great Sage Equaling Heaven was divided into 6 spirit stones and hidden in mysterious places. The 6 spirit stones represent the 6 senses of Wukong.
Hundreds of years later, the journey to find the spirit stone to revive Sun Wukong is continued by later generations in Huaguo Mountain, known as “The Destined One”.
Spanning six chapters, Black Myth: Wukong takes players on a journey where they meet, recruit, and battle many similar characters from Journey to the West such as Pigsy, Bull Demon King, the rat spirit Huang Fengguai, the wolf and snake spirit Ling Xuzi and the White-Robed Xiushi.
Similar to Sun Wukong, the monkey The Destined One also uses a magic staff that can change size like the Great Sage and has the ability to chant spells and transform.
In spite of Black Myth: Wukong not an exact adaptation of TThe Journey it's still helpful to know the basics of this classic to get a better understanding of what's going on in the game.
One feature that is highly appreciated by players is that the game producer invests in the characters, including the little monsters, all with deep side stories. Among them, the side story about the tearful love story of Tru Bat Gioi is being widely shared by the audience.
The producer deliberately arranged the love story of Hang Nga for Tru Bat Gioi since he was the Marshal of Thien Bong in Heaven.
Chang'e was devoted to the marshal, but he fell in love with the Moon Star Lord. Having sinned against the Jade Emperor, Tianpeng was banished to earth, met a young lady in Gao Laozhuang, and they got married. Their happiness did not last long, and the marshal was transformed into the form of Bajie by the heavens.
Moved, Chang'e “descended” to earth herself, accepting to transform into a Spider Spirit. The two spent a short time together before Zhu Bajie set out to assist Tang Sanzang in his quest for Buddhist scriptures. When they met again, Chang'e had become an old woman, always waiting for Bajie to return. More than 500 years had passed since the journey to the Buddhist scriptures.
