Sanrio mascots like Hello Kitty have been used in a variety of media and merchandise. Now, the characters will be part of another series of collectible cards that come with a delicious treat.
Via Game Watch, the “Sanrio Characters Wafer 7” candy toy set is now available, and as the name suggests, this is the seventh iteration of these items, this time featuring cute Sanrio characters on Tarot-esque cards that represent them in both dark and angelic imagery. Add to that a delicious treat, and this is easily the sweetest thing to come out of Hello Kitty and friends.

Latest Hello Kitty and Friends Card Sets Combine Sweets With Sanrio
Released through Bandai Candy, the Sanrio Characters Wafer 7 is the next generation in the branded card line that comes with a sweet treat. The latter is a piece of creamy chocolate cookie that comes with each card set. In addition to this sweet bite, the deck also includes two different types of Sanrio-themed cards. Featuring various characters from the brand such as Hello Kitty, Keroppi, and Kuromi, the cards depict them as demons or angels in adorable Tarot-like artwork. The second aspect of the deck involves the “Fluffy Plush Hug” cards, which depict various Sanrio characters hugging their favorite stuffed animals.
The Fluffy Plush Hug card set is presented in light pastel tones, while the angel/demon cards are in darker colors. Made from metal sheets, the Sanrio Characters Wafer 7 line also features mysterious rare cards made from holographic foil. There are 29 cards in total in the set, including two cryptic “secret” cards. The set is currently available in Japanese convenience stores in the candy and snack aisles for 143 yen (less than $1). At this price, fans can try their luck and hope to collect the entire set for under $50. Of course, even if they buy it back, they can still enjoy a delicious waffle like the Sanrio characters.
