In June 2021, Bandai Namco Corporation announced their sustainability project titled”Gundam Global Century Development Action”. Originally a project aimed at solving population and environmental problems, it has now begun researching technologies in the gundam line with four different groups.

#GOI Four official projects have been decided ❗️
❶ TEAM SPACE LIFE project
❷ Prototype of a new pilot robot to deploy mobile suits on social networks
❸ Green Colony Project
❹ Beam Saber ~ Plasma agriculture project
Originally featuring 11 partners, Bandai Namco announced on October 27 that two more partners would be added for a total of 13 partners. In the same announcement, Bandai Namco said these 13 partners have been divided into 4 groups: Space Life Project Team, Prototyping New Mobile Robot Project for Social Implementation of Mobile Suits, Project Green Space Colony and the Beam Saber-inspired Plasma Agriculture Project. Each group focuses on different aspects of Gundunda technologies and how they will be deployed in the world.
According to the homepage, the team will focus on creating living spaces, comfortable environmental control, and sustainable resource circulation. It seems they are researching space colonies and adapting new medical technologies so humans can survive in those spaces.
Working in tandem with the Team’s Space Life Project, the Green Space Colony Project will provide an experimental environment to study the effects of gravity, closed environments, etc. specific to space and will help people perceive life in space. Interestingly, research on artificial gravity can almost only be done in space, and research on closed environments has been conducted in the past.
However, what fans really want to see are the Mobile Suits and some of the weapons that go with them. Prototyping new controllable robots for social deployment on mobile devices The Suit and Plasma Agriculture Project Inspired by Beam Saber helped us make it happen. The former claims that it aims to realize a “real MS (mobile suit)” and carry out peaceful operations. It defines MS as a “controlled robot that enriches human life through interaction with humans”.
So instead of making weapons of war, this group will focus on peaceful and practical applications of mobile suits. Likewise, the Beam Saber Inspired Plasma Agriculture Project was not focused on weaponry. Instead, the team will research plasma for agricultural purposes. Plasma can now be maintained in the air, making it possible to control it gently so that it does not get hot even when touched by humans or plants, the team said. If this is applied to agriculture, we can expect to promote plant growth, improve plant immunity, and cultivate with less pesticides.”How the team does it This will be a lot of fun and hopefully yield amazing results.
Like the Star Trek series, Mobile Suit Gun has captured the imagination of people around the world. And while we’ve recognized some of the technology from Star Trek, it’s still not there yet. But with gundam’s extensive Innovation program, the promises of gundam’s future may not be so far away.
