Megan Thee Stallion, rapper and songwriter from Houston, Texas, revealed that she is watching animated movies like Attack on Titan and Blue Exorcist.
In an interview shared by AnimeFitLa, the popular Hip-Hop artist shared her daily passion for anime. Stallion said, “I actually start my day by watching anime and I end the day by watching anime. “When I’m doing my makeup, I’ll let it play in the background. Before going to bed at night, that’s what I want to go to sleep.”
Megan Thee Stallion’s Life as an Anime Fan
Stallion said she is watching various cartoons such as School of the Dead, Assassination Classroom, Soul Eater, Blue Exorcist, Hunter x Hunter and Attack of the Giants. In the video, Stallion shows off her Blue Exorcist manicure (and thanks her manicurist). She also talked about her undisguised love affair with My Hero Academia. On October 31, 2022, Stallion dressed up as Rumi Usagiyama, Rabbit Hero: Mirko from My Hero Academia, for Halloween.
The My Hero Academia manga staff also love Stallion. Shōta Noguchi, manga assistant to series author Kohei Horikoshi, uses Stallion as a visual reference for his Mirko illustrations. All of Mirko’s illustrations are based on real-life outfits that Stallion has worn in public, such as her Houston Rockets ball cap and her red and black bikini top.
Of course, Stallion isn’t the only celebrity who loves anime. Michael B. Jordan, star and director of Creed 3, talked about how his love for anime — especially Dragon Ball Z — shaped the successful sequel. The film’s production staff even designed Jordan’s red boxer Akira-style as a tribute to the actor’s love of anime. Costume designer Lizz Wolf said, “I’m just leaning towards Michael B. Jordan’s love for anime. “This is our respectful nod to Akira and Kaneda’s design. Raphael Phillips and Geo Pavlov were determined to put this into perspective.”
For the release of Creed 3 in theaters in Japan, a special anime called Creed Kako no Gyakushū (Creed: Revenge from the Past) aired at the end of the series. Yo Moriyama is directing the anime special, while Katushiko Manabe and Kensaku Kojima are writing the scripts. Creed 3 is available now on Prime Video.
