Summary/SPOILER Summary
High Priest Ferdinand demands to know who Myne is, as her writing is that of a foreigner. Myne confirms that she was born and raised in the city. However, she claims that her knowledge is a dream of a place (Japan) that she can never return to. Ferdinand sends her away to ponder this. Meanwhile, Myne and Lutz work on stencils for printing while Wilma creates drawings for the book. Wilma's request to visit the workshop pleases Myne.
Encouraged by the finished result on the print, Wilma worked on more pages. Finally, they had everything to complete a book series. With Tuuli's help, the binding of the first book was completed. Myne was delighted to see Tuuli wanting to learn to read. Later, Fran explained about the Harvest Festival to Mine. A middle-aged blue priest challenged her, but to Fran's displeasure, Myne temporarily gave in to him.
That changes when Myne discovers that the man has thrown the small library in the temple into the trash. Mine threatens to kill the bloody man, but Ferdinand forbids her from taking action against the man. So Myne uses this to reorganize the library with the help of Gil and Delia. She introduces the Myne Decimal System to the library. However, she discovers that all the books on magic are missing. Ferdinand says that only nobles are allowed to use those books so they are hidden in his room.
Myne's book shocks Benno because of its quality. He is unhappy that she does not sell them. Myne gives a copy to a delighted Delia as a reward. Myne then has to perform a song for the high priest and he is pleased. However, he informs Myne that she must spend the winter in the temple as part of her duty.
The book is complete.
And finally this time, Myne finished her first book in Rise of a Bookworm Season 2 Episode 6. It was an interesting journey watching Myne turn her dream into reality. As I said before, her memory of book making can be a bit off. However, the fact that she had to try and make mistakes in everything helped to mitigate that quite a bit. And thus, she learned why stencils are not good for printing.
On the other hand, I really understood how Ferdinand and Benno had different reactions to Myne's first book. Benno saw the financial goldmine that producing the book would be. However, Myne disappointed him by revealing that she was going to give them away as educational tools, even though she knew selling them would help cover the costs.
Ferdinand, on the other hand, was not as impressed. To him, Myne's book was too simple. It needed a fancy cover and colorful illustrations. However, he got a reality check when Myne revealed that they had published 30 books so far.
I like that Tuuli will now learn to read. And I really like Delia's reaction when she received the book given by Myne. Furthermore, Myne's book made Wilma more courageous and actually visit the workshop. As a book lover myself, I appreciate what Kazuki-sensei is doing here.
Omake
As is normal for this small manga, Rise of a Bookworm Season 2 Episode 6 There is some omake material. The bonus manga chapter deals with Myne's difficulty in convincing the people of this world to accept the story of Cinderella. Delia is the focus of the short story in the volume. We have the usual notes from Kazuki-sensei and Suzuka-sensei. There are two 4-koma manga pages. The first is Myne's wish to display her first book. The second is the evil priest's order to clean up the library.
Final thoughts and conclusions
Let me end my review of Ascension of a Bookworm Season 2 Episode 6 with some final thoughts.
Lutz and Myne continue to make a great team. I really like them together. I was surprised that the high priest didn't object to Myne's explanation of her origins. That will come up in the future, I guess. Myne's rage was awesome. I have to admit, I was a little disappointed that she didn't get to punish the “evil” priest. However, I suspect this guy will return at some point. I found it funny when Myne introduced her to the Nippon Decimal System. Since the “world” of this manga is limited to the city and the forest just outside, I wonder if the plan is to spread the Myne Decimal System. It's sad that Myne can't stay with her parents during the winter. At least they can visit her in the temple. However, this is a wedge. Considering Ferdinand is making an exception for these visits, I wonder if there will ever be a day when they have to stop altogether.
Final, Ascension of a Bookworm Season 2 Episode 6 allowed Myne to complete her first book. Now let's see what happens next for her.
