Hae-Jin’s father is an antiques appraiser. Furthermore, he travels the world to retrieve artifacts that have been lost in time and donate them to the state, all with his own money. He learned all the trading tips and tricks from his father.
Since his father has spent all the family money on his missions, Hae-Jin is unable to concentrate on school. He started working at a very young age to provide for his family. At the age of 31, Hae-Jin is working as a construction worker.
Little does he know that his father will be the one to help him get back on his feet. Better late than never, I guess. He left his latest find, Eight Bells from the Korean Peninsula, in his home and left without a word.
When Hae-Jin picked up the artifact, a strange thing happened. He was enveloped in this mystical blue and saw a woman hovering behind him. It was the spirit of a Shaman on the Heavenly Altar from the Korean Peninsula.
She gave him the ability to perfectly appreciate any artifact. But in exchange, Hae-Jin must collect the Three Treasures of Heaven: the Bowl of Bells, the Bronze Dagger, and the Bronze Mirror.
Hae-Jin can force another appraiser to confess the truth. He can project the astral body into a picture to find out the reality behind its origin. As in, he can find out if the artifact is authentic or not.
He uses his ability to buy some antiques cheaply and then auction them off for a huge profit. He impressed Lee Eun-Hye, the curator of a gallery, hiring him as a part-time appraiser for a hefty commission.
Artifact Reading Appraiser Manhwa Recap
After moving to a new place, Hae-Jin receives a call from Byun-Guk. Byun-Guk is very close to his father. They often raid graves together, and Hae-Jin considers him his biological uncle. Byun-Guk contacted Hae-Jin to see if he was in contact with his father.
However, he explained that it had been a while since he lost contact with his father. Byun-Guk wants him to help appraise an artifact, and Hae-Jin decides to help him in his father’s place.
It’s an antique that Hae-Jin’s father gave Byun-Guk over a decade ago, and it looks like he’s finally ready to sell it. Hae-Jin estimates the antique is worth about one billion won.
The client they were seeing was revealed to be the Vice President of Hwajin Group, Lee Seong-Jun. Hwajin Group is the largest corporation in the country and also the group to which Eun-Hye belongs.
The sale was done at Seong-Jun’s house. The duo went there and marveled at the sheer scale of their home. They find their way to meet Seong-Jun. Immediately, he despises Hae-Jin because of his lack of experience.
Who needs experience when you have the soul of a Sorcerer in Heaven? Byun-Guk asked for 2 billion Won for the antique but was immediately denied.
Since they couldn’t reach an agreement, Byun-Guk and Hae-Jin left. However, Seong-Jun starts berating them for asking too much and says that they will never find customers at this rate.
Hae-Jin is displeased when Seong-Jun berates someone he considers family. He decided to get even. He noticed that one of the pieces of art on the wall, Max Beckmann’s Lion Tamer, was actually fake, and he wasn’t afraid to say it to his face.
Artifact Reading Appraiser Chapter 12 Spoiler & Prediction
Hae-Jin just told the VP of Hwajin Group that the precious painting he hung on the wall was a fake. Knowing Hae-Jin, we know that he is telling the truth. Perhaps the painting is one of Hanjin’s fakes.
We know that Hanjin is famous for creating exquisite works that even the most seasoned appraisers can hardly distinguish. If it weren’t for his abilities, he wouldn’t be able to distinguish between them. That may or may not happen during this time period.
