The anime series The Apothecary’s Diary (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto) has announced that the series will continue airing season 2 on January 6, 2024. The announcement was made after the 12th episode of the series aired. On January 6, episode 13 titled “Serving at the Foreign Hospital” will air, marking this episode as the opening episode for the second season of the series.
Along with the announcements about the second installment, The Apothecary Dairies will release a new trailer before the set date. The trailer will be released on Monday, December 25 at 6pm (JST). Fans can watch the latest trailer on TOHO Animation’s official YouTube Channel.

The Apothecary Diaries also announced the release of the insert song “Yukichu Hana (Snow Flowers)” which first aired in episode 12. The lyrics of “Yukichu Hana” were written by Mashiro Uchida and composed by Akira Kamimae. They released a short video of the scene from episode 12 where the song insert can be heard. Fans can listen to the new insert song on streaming platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and YouTube Music.

The Apothecary Diaries anime series is inspired by the novel of the same name, written by Nats Hyuga, illustrated by Toko Shino and serialized by Shunfunotomo. The light novel series also inspired a manga adaptation written by Itsuki Nanao and illustrated by Shunfunotomo. It is published by Square Enix and serialized in the monthly GanGan magazine. The anime series is directed by Norihiro Naganuma, with TOHO Animation Studio x OLM producing the animation for the series.
The light novel series Apothecary Diaries also inspired a short anime series called Maomao’s Diaries (Maomao no Hitorigoto). Maomao’s Diary stars main character Maomao, as she explains the important entries shown in the week’s current episode. There are currently 12 short episodes and are being streamed on TOHO Animation’s official YouTube channel.
The Apothecary Diaries light novel series is licensed and published digitally by J-Novel Club. The manga adaptation is licensed and published by Square Enix. Square Enix will also publish the light novel series in English starting May 2024.
The Apothecary Diaries anime series is streaming on Crunchyroll with both English subtitles and dub. The streaming site described the series as follows:
