Survival games have never lost their appeal, but instead of the looting form like when PUBG or Fortnite were still popular, now, most survival blockbusters have their own storylines as well as put players in a difficult situation, trying to overcome the difficulties of natural conditions or in other words, much more diverse in content. However, what Astrobotanica – a survival blockbuster that is about to be released promises to bring still creates excitement and curiosity for most gamers.
Instead of playing as a human desperately trying to survive in an alien environment like in typical survival games, players will take on the role of an alien facing the same challenge on Earth in the distant past. Accordingly, in Astrobotanica, gamers will play as Xel – a botanist from a distant world who accidentally landed on Earth 300,000 years ago. There are wild animals that are not really friendly, and more importantly, Xel does not breathe oxygen.
From there, the survival adventure with the Xel character of gamers will also begin. From learning the language of the natives, helping prehistoric tribes to surviving on their own, all promise to bring extremely interesting challenges. The Steam page of Astrobotanica says that players will develop their own unique characters through a six-pronged progression system that includes knowledge of the planet, research, investigation, management, adaptation and learning. Even without that hidden magic, Astrobotanica seems like it could be an interesting twist on the relaxing and entertaining survival formula.
