Game cards are becoming more and more valuable.
The most expensive is probably the One Ring card from Magic: The Gathering, which was once sold for millions of dollars. On the other hand, Pokemon cards have also gradually increased in value over time, depending on their rarity and the number of limited editions. Because of this, a series of thefts have occurred, with the target being store owners who own valuable Pokemon cards. And recently, a robbery of an extremely valuable Pokemon card has just occurred.
The incident took place in Japan. Two thieves are said to have broken into a company in Osaka that sells Pokemon cards at 3:30 a.m. on September 9.
It is known that both thieves wore masks and sneaked in right after the employees here had just finished their live sales session. They threatened the employees with a bladed object, then quickly proceeded to grab the Pokemon cards.
What’s more, it seems that the two men had no knowledge of Pokemon, as they even asked the staff which cards were the most expensive and valuable. They then took 100 Pokemon cards worth approximately 10 million yen (about 1.7 billion VND) and tied up the staff with tape for two hours before escaping. The victims said the thieves were dressed in black, wearing masks and sunglasses to hide their identities. The suspects have not been identified and are still on the run.
This isn't the first Pokemon card theft, and it probably won't be the last. In early 2024, thieves were caught on camera stealing 35,000 Pokemon cards . In addition, a collector in Belgium was left furious after his $200,000 collection was stolen in a burglary involving a Wi-Fi jammer and headphones. In another case in 2022, a 62-year-old man's $500,000 Pokemon card collection was stolen in a burglary.
