Starting last year, the categories for Best Voice Actor, Best Supporting Voice Actor, and New Voice Actor, are gender-neutral. This year’s awards ceremony also began with a moment of silence to mourn the passing of Dragon Ball author Akira Toriyama and voice actress TARAKO. The awards also continue the tradition of honoring all voice actors who have passed away in the past year. Previously, Chika Anzai, Takuya Eguchi and Atsumi Tanezaki were the recipients of the main voice actor award at the 17th Seiyu Awards.
