Fall 2023. Akutsu, an elderly prisoner serving a life sentence in prison, is nearing a lonely death in his solitary cell. A flower, without touching me, could talk as humans told him, “You have had a terrible life.” Through their “conversation”, Akutsu began to reflect on his past. your past. Summer 1986. Akutsu is living with Nana, a woman six years his junior, and her son Kensuke in a shabby apartment with a garden full of untouched plants. The triumphant overnight return of a dying yakuza and the story of his family are told through a flower blooming in prison.
This year's Annecy will take place from June 9 to June 15 in the French town of the same name. Founded in 1960, Annecy is the world's largest and oldest animation festival.
Kinoshita and Konomoto previously collaborated on the anime ODDTAXI from 2021.
