Rascal Does Not Dream of a Little Sister Venturing Out and Rascal Does Not Dream of a Backpack Kid is a sequel to the 2018 television series Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai and the film Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl 2019. They aim to conclude the story of main character Sakuta Azusagawa’s high school days. His “college student arc” will be depicted in an upcoming new anime.
Here are Aniplex USA’s respective synopses for the two new films:
Rascal Does Not Dream of an Adventurous Sister
Sakuta Azusagawa is in his third and final semester as a second-year high school student. There are only a few more days left to spend together at Minegahara High School with Mai Sakurajima, a third-year student and Sakuta’s girlfriend. Meanwhile, his sister Kaede, who has loved her home for many years, reveals to Sakuta a secret she has never shared with anyone. “I want to go to my brother’s school.” This is a big decision for Kaede. Although Sakuta knew this was a difficult decision for her, he still decided to gently support her. Little Kaede’s feelings are entrusted to Kaede. This is the story of two people as they take a step towards the future.
Rascal did not dream of a child wearing a backpack
March begins and there’s only a month left in the third semester. Sakuta Azusagawa is about to celebrate his girlfriend Mai Sakurajima’s graduation ceremony. As he waited for Mai at Shichirigahama Beach, an elementary school girl who looked like Mai when she was a child actress appeared before him. “Who are you, sir?” she asked. Is this a dream or an illusion? As he was thinking about this mysterious experience, his father called him. “It’s about your mother. She said she wanted to meet Kaede,” he said. Kaede’s mother never accepted what happened to Kaede. After being hospitalized for so long, their mother finally wanted to see her daughter. To fulfill her mother’s wish, Sakuta decided to meet face to face – something they hadn’t done in a long time. He couldn’t hide his anxiety about all of this. Never-before-seen scars began to appear on Sakuta’s body. Is this a warning sign of a new type of puberty syndrome?
The light novel Rascal Does Not Dream was written by Hajime Kamoshida and illustrated by Keji Mizoguchi began publication in 2014 under the title Dengeki Bunko and has 13 volumes as of July 2023. Some of its parts have been adapted into manga by various manga artists.
