A giant Frieren: Beyond Journey's End mural located in Mexico City is going viral on social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok. The anime mural, which features Frieren, Fern, and Himmel, reportedly took over a week to complete.
The Frieren mural was created by a Mexican muralist who goes by the name @enks01 on social media. The artist posted a video of the process of spray painting the Frieren mural on TikTok, which has since gone viral and been picked up by several other anime fan accounts. The TikTok video, seen below, currently has nearly 650,000 views and 127,000 likes as of writing.

The completed mural features three portraits of the series' three main characters; Frieren, Fern, and Himmel. Frieren herself is shown with a sad expression and a bittersweet smile, while her companions Himmel and Fern look on affectionately. The mural is located on Calle Manuel M. Lopez in Mexico City, Mexico.
The muralist has previously created several anime-themed spray-painted murals around Mexico City, featuring characters from shows like The Apothecary Diaries, Fullmetal Alchemist, One Piece, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Neon Genesis Evangelion, among others. However, it was the Frieren mural that garnered the most attention on social media, with users across multiple platforms flooding the comments section with requests for murals in their city. The artist also responded to a user asking where Stark, another Frieren fan, was, saying they would be doing another Frieren mural soon.
Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, originally a manga series created by Kanehito Yamada, is a fantasy shounen manga that tells the story of the protagonist, an elven mage who struggles with death and relationships, as she has a much longer lifespan than the species around her, including many of her human friends such as Fern and Himmel. The series has been airing on Weekly Shonen Sunday since 2020 and was adapted into an anime by Madhouse in 2023. Frieren has been praised for its beautiful animation and character development, becoming one of the most popular anime series of 2023 and 2024.
