The official website for the new anime adaptation of Rumiko Takahashi's Ranma 1/2 manga posted new character visuals of the previously announced cast on Saturday.

The cast and their characters (from left to right):
Takayama and Inoue will reprise their roles from the previous anime film. Ōtsuka will replace Ryunosuke Ohbayashi.
Kappei Yamaguchi, Megumi Hayashibara and Noriko Hidaka play the roles of (male) Ranma Saotome, (female) Ranma and Akane Tendō, respectively.
Kōnosuke Uda (One Piece: Dead End, DAYS) is directing the new series at MAPPA. Kimiko Ueno (Delicious in Dungeon, Astro Note) is in charge of the series scripts, and Hiromi Taniguchi (Kurage no Shokudō) is designing the characters. Ano will perform the anime's opening theme song.
The anime will premiere nationwide in Japan on October 5 on NTV at 24:55 JST (actually October 6 at 12:55 AM JST). The anime will be streamed exclusively on Netflix after it airs.

Takahashi launched the manga in Shogakukan's Weekly Shōnen Sunday magazine in August 1987 and ended it in March 1996. The series has 38 compiled book volumes.
The manga inspired the television anime Ranma 1/2 in April 1989. The anime was further adapted into the Ranma ½: Nettō-hen series in October 1989 and ran until September 1992. The series also inspired two films, a theatrical anime, and an OVA, with the final OVA episode released in January 1996. The Ranma ½: Nightmare! anime special Incen of Spring Sleep premiered in September 2008. The series inspired a live-action television special in December 2011.
Viz Media has released the anime on VHS, DVD, and Blu-ray Disc. The company has also published manga.
Takahashi's Urusei Yatsura manga recently inspired a new television anime that premiered in Fuji TV's Noitamina programming block in October 2022. The second half of the series began on January 11. The fourth and final season of the series premiered on April 11.
