Golf anime Oi Tonbo will premiere on April 6, as announced earlier this week with a new trailer. Studio OLM is animating the series, with SMDE on the CG animation.

Oi Tonbo anime – New trailer
Oh Jin-Koo is directing the anime, with Mitsutaka Hirota writing the series. Akira Takeuchi designed the characters, Kazuhiro Arai served as art director, and Nobuko Toda composed the music. The cast includes Rika Hayashi as Ooi Tonbo and Hiroki Tochi as Kazuyoshi Igarashi. Theme songs include “Habatake” by Sacra esole as the opening theme and “Let’s Swing” by TOKYO GROOVE JYOSHI featuring Rika Hayashi.
An anime adaptation of Oi Tonbo was announced in May 2023, following the manga’s 44th volume in Weekly Golf Digest. It will be adapted from the manga written by Ken Kawasaki and illustrated by Yu Furusawa. The comic series began serialization in Weekly Golf Digest in August 2014.

The manga follows Kazuyoshi Igarashi, a man expelled from the Japan Professional Golfers’ Association before turning 50, and Tonbo, a golf prodigy he meets on Tokara Island in Kagoshima Prefecture , and their struggle to become experts.
