An adaptation of the “Culling Game Arc” of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga was announced after the conclusion of the anime’s second season.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 takes place from July to December 2023, with the “Shibuya Arc Incident” starting a few weeks after the first “Hidden Inventory Arc.” The first season aired from late 2020 to early 2021 with 24 episodes. The prequel to the anime Jujutsu Kaisen 0 was released in Japan in December 2021. MAPPA is an animation production company.

Jujutsu Kaisen is based on a supernatural action manga published by Shueisha Gege Akutamistarted in 2018 and has 23 tankoubon volumes as of October 2023. Viz Media describes the manga as follows:

Some notable aspects of Season 2 include the director change, with Shouta Goshozono (Jujutsu Kaisen Episode 17, Ranking Kings Episode 21, and storyboard artist and episode director for Chainsaw Man Episode 8) took over directing duties from Sunghoo Park (God of High School) and publicly expressed discontent from some participants animators and directed episodes about the film’s production.
