Full-length VR animation coming to Meta Quest

Bandai Namco Filmworks announced at its Anime NYC panel on Friday that it will release the feature-length VR anime and virtual reality (VR) production company Atlas V's Mobile Suit Tsuna Silver Phantom for Meta Quest 2 and 3 on Oct. 3 at 1 p.m. EDT. The company also revealed a new trailer for the anime.

Kenichi Suzuki (SDGundam Sangokuden Brave Battle Warriors, Gundam Evolve) is directing the anime, and Ryōji Sekinishi (Mobile Suit UC setting production) is writing the script. Tsukasa Kotobuki (Mobile Suit Gun: Cucuruz Doan's Island, Mobile Suit Gunma: The Origin) is designing the characters, and Mika Akitaka (Mobile Suit Gunma 0083: Stardust Memory, Mobile Suit Gunma 0083: The Afterglow of Zeon) is in charge of mechanical design. Yoshiya Ikeda is composing the music, and Sadayoshi Fujino (Mobile Suit GTA Seed Destiny, Mobile Suit Gunma: The Origin) is the sound director. Atlas V and Bandai Namco Filmworks are producing the VR anime.

Shōko Nakagawa performs the film's theme song “Across the World.”
Atlas V's Pierre Zandrowicz and Bandai Namco Filmworks' Ken Iyadomi first revealed the interactive “role-playing adventure” project at Anime NYC in November 2023. Zandrowicz said of the project: “It's not just a game, nor just a storytelling experience—it's an immersive adventure that takes advantage of the best of both worlds.” This is the first time Sunrise has collaborated with a French company, Atlas V.
The story is set in Century 0096.
Another recently announced project from Bandai Namco Filmworks is Mobile Suit Gunma: Requiem for Vengeance, which will consist of six 30-minute episodes that will stream worldwide on Netflix. The team at Sunrise and Safe House are producing the anime entirely in Epic Games' Unreal Engine 5. The anime will premiere on October 17.
