YOASOBI, Milet to perform theme songs for September 29 anime
The official website for Kanehito Yamada’s television anime and Tsukasa Abe’s Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End (Sōsō no Frieren) manga unveiled a new promotional video for the anime on Friday. The video reveals and previews the opening theme song “Yūsha”(Hero) by YOASOBI and the ending theme song “Anytime Anywhere” by Milet.

The anime will premiere with a two-hour special on September 29 at 9 p.m. JST (8:00 a.m. EDT). This will be the first television anime series to premiere on NTV’s “Kinyō Roadshow”, a Friday night program usually devoted to feature films. The anime will then air the following episodes in October in NTV’s new anime time slot.

The adventure is over but the life of an elf mage continues just starting to find out what life is all about. The elf mage Frieren and her brave companions defeated the Demon King and brought peace to the land. But Frieren will live longer than the rest of her old group. How will she understand what life means to those around her? Decades after their victory, the funeral of a friend of hers leaves Frieren to face her own near-immortality. Frieren sets out to fulfill his teammate’s last wish and finds himself embarking on a new adventure…
Atsumi Tanezaki plays the main character and the main character is Frieren.
Other cast members include:
Keiichirō Saitō (Bocchi the Rock!) is directing the anime at Madhouse. Tomohiro Suzuki (ACCA: 13 Territories Control Room, One-Punch Man, Boogiepop and others) is in charge of the series’ scripts. Reiko Nagasawa (takt op. Destiny) designed the characters. Evan Call (Violet Evergarden, Josee, The Tiger and the Fish, Muv-Luv Alternative) is composing the music.
Yamada and Abe launch the manga in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine in April 2020. The 11th volume will publish on September 15. Viz Media published the eighth volume on June 20 and will publish the volume. ninth on October 17. The manga went on hiatus from January 18 and resumed publication on March 22.
The manga has won several awards, including the New Creators Award for the 25th Annual Tezuka Osamu Cultural Awards in 2021 and the 14th Manga Taisho Award in 2021. Nominated for Best Shōnen Manga for the 45th Kodansha Annual Manga Award in 2021 and the 46th award in May 2022. The Floral Library Association’s Comics and Graphic Novels Roundtable (GNCRT) Ky has included this manga in the list of 10 best graphic novels in 2022 for adults to read.
