BLUE LOCK is a manga series written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura. An anime television series adaptation by Eight Bit was produced in 2022, followed by a spin-off anime film adaptation of the Episode Nagi manga in April 2024. The second season, titled BLUE LOCK vs. U-20 JAPAN, premiered in October 2024 and is currently underway. Ani-One describes BLUE LOCK:
To develop the world's best striker to lead Japan to the World Cup championship, three hundred high school strikers were invited to participate in the “BLUE LOCK” project. Thirty-five selfish people survived the harsh selection process. Some by tearing down others, and some by growing as players. Surviving the madness and filled with ego, they will fight for BLUE LOCK's survival, participating in the biggest match ever, a historic battle with the Japanese U-20 national team Copy. The opportunity to change their destiny and imprint their ego on the world is at hand when the hottest match in history begins!
